Pool Table Lighting Fixtures Provide Light And Atmosphere

My favorite pool table lighting fixtures have always been the ones made from fake stained glass and often advertise beer or soft drinks, and you can still buy them if you are lucky enough to have a pool table in a game room or man cave.

Modern pool table lighting fixtures come in many shapes and forms, some simple and some fancy, but the most important thing about choosing a lighting fixture is ensuring that it gives out an even light and doesn't cast shadows. It's a serious game so you don't want any disagreements, or people refusing to play on your table because it isn't lit well. If things get too out of hand after a few games and a few more beers, it's probably a good idea to make sure that the fixture doesn't break easily. The ones that are simply glass shades will break at the slightest tap of a cue, so they're not the best idea.
Stainless steel or metal hanging lights with low wattage bulbs are good. There's little chance of a fluorescent or xenon light going pop just as someone is about to pot the last ball, and if your games last through the night, at least you can save a little on lighting costs.
Many companies specialize in game room lighting and you should have a budget in mind when shopping for a lighting fixture. Many of them are incredibly expensive and really only suitable for professional settings, say in a pool hall or private club.
A pool table lighting fixture normally hangs about three feet above the table surface and comprises three separate lights, evenly spaced over the table. If a member of your family is very tall, then you may have to raise the light just a little more than three feet to avoid bumped heads and contact with pool cues.
The fixture typically hangs from chains or a bar that runs the length of the fixture, they are often used above kitchen islands and a cola or alcoholic beverage pool table lighting fixture can look pretty neat in either location. They are made to look like stained glass, but they are made from acrylic. Solid stained glass hanging fixtures get bent out of shape easily, which I hope can't be said for your friends when they are playing pool in your house! Stained glass is also ridiculously heavy as the glass is held in place by strips of lead.
A pool table lighting fixture looks classy and professional and with the rest of the room in darkness looks really cool. Don't even think about using a two or four bar fluorescent workshop light over your pool table, the light flickers and is way too bright, it would look tacky and people would end up with headaches.
Anyway, if you could afford a good pool table then you can definitely afford to purchase really nice pool table lighting fixtures to impress your friends. Rack 'em.
